Honda- Maintenance
Does anyone actually have this done at the recommended intervals?
They want $400 bucks to "check" this and that for a 30,000 mile maintenance.
Major Service Interval Mileage: 30,000 - 60,000 - 90,000 - 120,000 - etc. The 30,000 miles service includes the following:
Oil & Filter Change
Oil Conditioner Additive
Check and fill all fluid levels
Rotate & Balance tires, adjust tire pressures
Perform Transmission Fluid Flush
Replace Air Filter
Install Fuel system cleaner additive
Clean Throttle Body Assembly & Lubricate
Adjust Brake System
Check alignment
Clean Battery Terminal & Connections
Check Belts, hoses, wipers, Intake/Exhaust

Re: Honda- Maintenance
I hear ya. We have a brand new CRV and I'm dreading doing the reequired maintenance in order to keep the warranty valid. It is excessive and very expensive.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
Do you own, or is it a lease? They had that scheduled for me when I was leasing. I was not paying that $$$ when I'm giving the car back.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
I dont do the scheduled maintenance on my accord...any little thing that needs to be done I get done elsewhere...its crazy..if you really look at the maintenence schedule, they are charging big bucks just to "inspect" certain parts of the car!

Re: Honda- Maintenance
We skipped the 30K mile one, but did it at 60K for our Honda CRV.
ETA: we didn't do to the dealership, we went to a mechanic here in Chicago who specializes in foreign cars. It cost us maybe $250.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
I've had my Honda since '99 and didn't do any of it. I went once with a coupon and wound up a week later having problems I think they caused.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
We haven't gone to them for any maintenance. We just take the car to our regular mechanic and DH read the book to shut off that "check maintenance" light off that flashes on when they want you to bring the car in.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
I had a Civic for about 5 years - brought it in for every service and never had a problem. I gave it to my sister when I bought my accord. I bring it in for all the maintenance and never had a problem. I agree, some of the jobs are pricey, but I need my car running all the time, so it's worth it to me.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
Honda owes us...because on the 1st oil change of my new CR-V...they forgot to put in the oil...luckily I noticed the oil light before I left the parking lot....but because of this...they are doing all the above mentioned maintance for free.

Re: Honda- Maintenance
The transmission fluid flush is the big ticket item at the 30k maintenance.
You can get this done for much cheaper though if you don't do it at a Honda dealer.
