Any ideas on what wire goes where?

you can use the front input jacks on the DVD box.

So if you see your dvd player, use the composite cables (yellow red and white wires) and plug them the front of the dvr box. Yellow = Video, Red and White = Audio.

Then on your remote, use the aux input to watch dvds... I have an HD DVR box and it may differ from a regular DVR box so if there are in inputs on the front, check the back.
