hoping to join you soon - prayers needed *UPDATE*

Hello all,

I got a BFP memorial weekend and it was a surprise after going through infertility but have a healthy 15 month old.

LMP was April 21 & went for sono Monday. Tiny sac appeared but also another sac of fluid/blood or subchronic hematoma. Tech asked me if I bled but didn't so I was wondering why she asked.

Went for first beta that same day & was 4000. OB didn't mention progesterone level so I hope that was ok. I took Endometrin my last pregnancy for 11 weeks along w Folgard & baby asprin w an RE.

2nd beta was yesterday, next one is tomorrow.

If my dr didn't mention anything about my progesterone should I be concerned? I'm mostly concerned about the subchronic hematoma.

Chat Icon Chat Icon positive vibes!!

I had a subchorionic hematoma early this pregnancy (5weeks to be exact), but had a couple of bleed outs so far all is well (30 weeks). I do suggest you bring up progesterone to your doctor. Going through this last FET until now I had to be my own advocate opposed to just going with the doctor says or doesn't say.

Good luck

Sending you good and positive vibes. My doctor never told me numbers because he didn't want me looking them up like a crazy person. He would just call me and tell me everything looks good. I would ask, and he would say, don't worry about it, everything looks great. I'm sure this way is not for everyone, but I had 2 previous MC's, so this was exactly what I needed. It helped to not compare my numbers to everyone else. Maybe that's why your doctor didn't tell you. I like to think, no news is good news.

I know a number of women who had subchorionic hematomas and all was fine. Once it's at that high of beta, I didn't think it was as important to see it double as when it's still in the hundreds....

ETA: It is "supposed" to double every 2-3 days, and believe it or not, time of day makes a difference as well, so say you went in the late afternoon/evening on Monday and then morning on Wednesday, it's not a full two days for it to double.

Once it gets to 2500 it doesn't necessarily double so 4000-6000 is fine.

So it wasn't a full 2 days, and even earlier on, the doubling time is anywhere from 2-3 days... at this point my understanding was that it wasn't even expected to double anymore.... I wouldn't be so worried (I'm a worrier by nature, so I worried through my whole pregnancy about one thing or another).

hoping to join you soon - prayers needed *UPDATE*

They made me insane the first few weeks of this pregancy. I too went through fertility with my first preg and knew every little detail. When I found out I preg this time we weren't even trying and I had no clue when my LMP was exactly. I tried to pin it down but the told me my levels were too low and not doubling and to expect a MC. My first sono was just the sac they told me it was a blighted ovum, expect a MC. The next week I went back and they said the saw a baby but the heartbeat was to slow. Still no good...The made me effing CRAZY! I also has a subchronic hemaoma that had me spotting..It was a frustrating, aggrevating few weeks. In the end I am now 17 weeks along and all is fine so far. Hang in there and have faith!

About the numbers - sometimes I think doctors are just cautious, but it can definitely get disheartening. When I first got my BFP I was only something like 3wk4d and the nurse I was dealing with at the time kept telling me to prepare for a chemical since my numbers were low. What? I wasn't even 4wks yet, of course they're low. She told me it's most important to see them double in 48 hours. Well, they tripled and she STILL told me the numbers weren't great. They continued to triple every time I went and she continued to be pessimistic. It bugged me so bad. However, by the time we reached 2500 we stopped testing because the numbers were great right where they were and a sono would reveal much more than HCG numbers would. So at that point I just had to wait another couple of weeks until I hit 6wks and could get that sono (which turned out awesome. I'm 12wks now and everything is going great). So that said, I'm kinda surprised you're still getting your numbers checked while they're this high. Either way though, I've always heard it should double between 2-3 days so if you went in 2 days and they didn't fully double, how do we know they didn't in 3 like they are supposed to? I don't know. Numbers just vary so much. I just don't feel like we can take real stock in them, unless they're going down.

Good points. I think he checks my #'s because of the subchronic hematoma. If that wasn't there maybe he would just send me for bloodwork once. But last pregnancy I came from an RE so all that type of testing was completed before. I just hate waiting for the sonos. Makes me nervous.

I know. Chat Icon That was the worst part for me, when we stopped doing the blood tests and I just had to wait those weeks for the sono. It was VERY unnerving. In fact, waiting between EACH sono has been hard, as it always is in the first trimester. I wish you all the best and hope this time goes fast for you and you're hearing that precious little HB soon!! (how long do you have to wait??)

Re: hoping to join you soon - prayers needed *UPDATE*

My prog was very good when I got preg naturally with my DD but I still took prog supplements. With my history of IF, my dr said it couldn't hurt. Just talk to your Dr about it if you are nervous. As for SCH, I would recommend you be very careful lifting things and try and stay off your feet. I had one that they couldn't see well on sono but I started bleeding like crazy one day I think in the 5 week range. I thought that was it for us but the sac was still there on sono and eventually saw HB, I spotted for a long time though. SCH can def cause issues. I don't want to sugar coat it bc I know people personally who lost babies from it and I was close. My RE told me anyone with one should take it easy and be on pelvic rest- no sex, no heavy lifting or strenuous exercise. The bleeding happens when the baby begins to grow and dispel the hematoma and blood passes out of the uterus, usually brown but I had a few bright red bleeds. As for the beta, as the other ladies stated, it does not necessarily double 48 hours after it reaches a point but Drs have a guideline of HCG increase during certain weeks. My RE continued to check my beta and prog until around 5.5-6 weeks (until the placenta starts forming and produces progrsterone for the baby). Your beta sounds fine and it can also vary depending on the time of day they took the blood work. I'm so happy for you! Hoping and praying this little miracle sticks. I know how scary it can be to get that surprise BFP after IF but it happens!
