Horrible burnt smell in microwave....

Ahhh, DH....he wanted to "degerm" the sponge and put it in for 3 minutes....almost burning down the entire house....Now my microwave smells like dead germs and has sort of an burnt electrical smell....

Do I really need to buy another one or is there some way I can get that smell out????? TIA Chat Icon

Re: Horrible burnt smell in microwave....

There are a lot of different online tips of how to get bad smells out of microwaves - do a search. I'm pretty sure some have to do with heating lemon juice or vinegar or something.

I saw on tv one to cut a lemon in half and put it in a bowl with water. Put it in the micorwave long enough for the water to come to a boil.

I actually had this same problem too. (not the sponge, but the burnt smell in microwave) Thanks for posting this.
