Hospital Bags...
I know its been done before.. but I wanted to know a couple of things: My hospital asks us to just bring what we need for delivery, and leave the other bag in the car.. so here are my questions..
1. What do I need in the delivery room bag? 2. What do I need for my stay in the hospital? 3. What kind of bags did everyone pack in? duffle? rolling luggage?
If anyone saved a packing list..let me know!! I know I still have time, but I just started thinking about it this weekend... I have 6 weeks, but who knows what will happen right!

Re: Hospital Bags...
This is the list of items we were told to bring by the lamaze instructor/delivery nurse. For me, having everything in ONE BAG was the best idea. I don't see why you can't pack it all in one back instead of having a "delivery bag" and "hospital stay bag". I was induced so I ended up being in the hospital for 2 nights before DS was even born. I was glad I packed everything in one bag b/c I took a shower on day 2 of my induction and had everything accessible to me.
ETA: I packed everything in a small rolling luggage bag.
Here is the list I have. You might not need everything but it is a comprehensive list:
THINGS TO TAKE TO THE HOSPITAL
For Mom and Baby >3-4 nightgowns and/or pajamas >3-4 bras (nursing bras if you plan to breastfeed) >6 pairs of underpants >Robe >Slippers >Socks (some with non-skid bottom) >Toiletries: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, brush, Blistex, scented shower gel/body spray (to feel good after delivery) >Scrunchies >Pillow >Towels >Bfing supplies – breastpads, lanolin, boppy >Your own pads >Makeup >Snacks >Money for vending machines >Phone card >Magazines >List of people and phone numbers to call >Camera/film >Camcorder/tapes >Going home outfit >Clothes for baby (T-shirt, socks, hat, sleeping gown) >Going home outfit for baby >Blanket for bringing baby home >Car seat
Miscellaneous items: >Watch or small clock >Insurance information >Hospital pre-registration forms >Change of clothes & toiletries for husband <Baby book including pages to stamp baby's feet
Things to be used during labor: >Small CD player & soothing music >Focal point >Tennis ball >Lotion for massage >Watch >Paper/pen >Hard candy to keep mouth moist >An activity to keep busy during early labor

Re: Hospital Bags...
This is a page I bookmarked from another LIF'er in the fall when they were packing their hospital bag....I think it may be on the overpacking side, but it covers a lot....I'll need to look at this too when July is here

For Mom and Baby
3-4 nightgowns and/or pajamas I would also bring sweat suits and stuff- I wore these while I had company during the day- I also wore one home... Just remember- dont expect to be wearing anything but your pregnancy clothes for the first week or 2! 3-4 bras (nursing bras if you plan to breastfeed or nursing sports bra's Is what I liked best!)
6 pairs of underpants Robe Slippers Socks Toiletries: toothbrush/toothpaste, soap, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, lotion, brush, Blistex, scented shower gel/body spray (to feel good after delivery)
Scrunchies Pillow(for you and hubby) Towels Bfing supplies – breastpads, lanolin, boppy Your own pads (poise pads-absorbed everything best IMO) Makeup Snacks (def. get your own candy stash- I got so hungry @ night) Magazines List of people and phone numbers to call Camera/film Going home outfit Clothes for baby (T-shirt, socks, hat, sleeping gown) Going home outfit for baby Blanket for bringing baby home (and jacket if its cold) Car seat (I would make sure the snuggle me is on the car seat to keep baby warm if its a winter delivery)
Miscellaneous items:
Watch or small clock Insurance information Hospital pre-registration forms Change of clothes & toiletries for husband (Unless he plans to go home and shower and change everyday)
Things to be used during labor:
Small CD player & soothing music Focal point Tennis ball Lotion for massage Watch Hard candy to keep mouth moist An activity to keep busy during early labor
I would also pack a seperate EMPTY bag- the hospital cart is gonna be packed with baby cream, diapers, formula etc... You take every freakin thing in the cart everytime the baby comes around!!!! And hubby can bring the things back and forth to your house...
