Hospital bedrest
I have been in the hospital on bedrest for two weeks now. I just finally got a laptop from my firm to use and the room is wireless equipped so I can get on LIF.
To make a long story short, I had preterm labor: contractions and 75% effaced, one cm dilated. I also had very high blood pressure.
I was given magnesium sulfate and turbutiline (sp??) and the labor stopped. My blood pressure is also back to normal now. They are keeping me here, probably for the duration of the pregnancy now. They think my placenta is deteriorating since I have two babies sharing one placenta. Usually a placenta lasts nine months but mine may not since it is doing double the work. So, they said it could be weeks before they have to deliver me but they are monitoring the twins heart rate 24/7 and think I might be able to stay pregnant for 32-34 weeks if nothing changes. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks all!
If anyone has preterm labor questions, please fm... I have lots of experiences to share already!
Oh, I was 26 weeks when I got here, but now I'm 28!

Re: Hospital bedrest
I feel you pain - I am 27 weeks and on bedrest at home (also for Pre-term labor and shortened cervix).
Hang in there - we should start a support thread for all the bed rest mommies!

I too spent quite a bit of time in the hospital when I was pregnant with my twin girls. (Under very similar circumstances to yours)...
It's a long road but oh but it's so worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hospital bedrest
Good luck to you! I was on strict hospital bedrest for 7 weeks when I was pregnant with DD - it's really tough. Try to occupy yourself as much as possible! Read mindless magazines, trashy novels, post on LIF..things you won't be able to do once the babies arrive!
