Re: Hospital clothes
Based on my friends advice, I wore black sweatsuits and t-shirts instead of pjs. I got inexpensive ones at kohls and target, in case they got ruined. Oh, and I brought twice as much underwear as I thought I would need, and I'm glad I did, you wouldn't believe how heavy the flow is and one night I slept like a rock and soaked right through the pad and my clothes. Sorry if TMI, but I was exhausted!
Oh, and I really wish I'd brought my own towel, one day they didn't have one towel on the whole maternity ward so they gave me a blanket for the bed to use.

Re: Hospital clothes
Several books also recommend your own pillow and socks...lots of em! Again, they will get ruined. Go for comfort rather than beauty, have one nice nightie/outfit for visitors.
If you will be nursing you need easy access...something with buttons or a zipper down the front, or an actual nursing nightgown or shirt.

Re: Hospital clothes
i bought and brought a nursing nightgown and never wore it...didnt want to get it ruined. I slept in the outfits the provided at the hosp. (the gowns)... made it eassy for the middle of the night feedings
I had a big wrap sweater with me to put on if i needed to walk anywhere. Plus, I had no control over the temp of the room, so I was glad i could reach over and put it on if need be.
flip flops and towels....def.

Re: Hospital clothes
Yah...i was worried about buying a nursing gown and then ruining it. So I guess I will just try to find something really comfy (and cheap). Thanks

I have three nursing gowns that I have never worn and my son is almost 3 weeks old! I just wore the hospital gowns for the first 24 hours then moved to one of Dh's t shirts and shorts for the last 24 with my robe.
Stuff I used Nursing Bra Nursing Tank with shelf Bra (got it at Target) Robe Extra Socks Flipflops for Shower CocoButter Chapstick Mouthwash Toothpaste/toothbrush (also for Dh) Glasses Contact stuff (also for Dh) HairDryer Cell phone and Charger Camera and Charger Deodorant Moisturizer Maternity jeans to wear home and a Tshirt (don't recommend jeans for going home.. I wish I had yoga pants!)
Stuff I had but never used Underwear.. just used the mesh ones they supplied Nursing gowns (see above) Magazines Makeup (ha!) Shampoo/Conditior/Soap (the hospital supplied a three in one creme which made it much easier) Towel (didn't want to get mine bloody so I used the hospitals)
Stuff I wish I had Pads from home. I haven't worn pads since I was 17 and I forgot how much I hated them especially hospital sized ones once I got home I sent out my mom for ones from CVS that were smaller and I wish I had them at the hospital. Newborn Wipes, our hospital provided ones you had to wet which was a PITA when the sink was way across the room and the baby was passing the black merconium poops so I wish I had brought some
Baby Stuff I used Baby Nail File Going home Outfit The Miracle Blanket for swaddling (lifesaver!) Pacifiers A few stretchies/rompers for dressing him up during the day

Wow! Thanks for the input. I will be printing out your list for reference. Oh...and I've got the miracle blanket ready to go. Heard great things! Wasn't planning on bringing it to the hospital but now I will
