Hosting our 1st Superbowl Party - Please help, I'm terrible at this!
Since DH's favorite football team is in the Superbowl, we decided to host a party.
We live in a small-ish apartment.
We invited a lot more people thinking some wouldn't be able to make it. Just about everyone is coming, some are bringing friends!
Its looking to be about 15 ppl including us. It could be as few as 11 ppl.
Is this enough food??????????????
We ordered: Salad Platter 100 boneless wings (wing zone) 2 jumbo orders of onion rings (wing zone)
I'm making: 48 Pizza Pinwheels (i can make 72 if you think i should?) 2 pounds BBQ Meatballs Buffalo Chicken Dip & Tostitos Onion Dip Chocolate Chip Cookies
And also ... Veggie Platter w/ Dip Potato Chips Pretzels Doritos Chex Mix
Also ... can some one walk me through the whole sterno thing? I've really never hosted a party before!

Maybe a few more snack options - the guys usually like to eat chips/pretzels/doritos while watching... plus remeber guests will usually bring stuff - often - cakes/cookies/beer/soda

Oooh, I forgot to add that! Yes, definitely buying potato chips, doritos, pretzels for snacking.
We are always the guests at parties, so I feel bad asking people to bring anything other than drinks.

Everything sounds great and it sounds like a lot of yummy choices!!
However what is the male to female ratio?? Are they big eaters? If 15 people do show up, and they all are big eaters and all want wings (usually the most popular) they only get 6 wings each at 100 wings. That's enough for me, but if it was DH or his friends... they would be eating at least a dozen wings on their own. You have so many other great choices so it is not like they will be hungry because you have lots of other food for them, but I still think most guys look forward to the wings and might want a dozen wings to themselves.

Also a sterno... it's easy... party city has them... the ones i used... its just a metal wire that you put a tin foil type pan in it (the food goes in the pan) and underneath the sterno-heat goes down there, those wire racks usually have a place for them. You light the sterno candles and then that heats up the bottom of it and keeps it warm!! Very useful for buffet style entertaining.

Thanks so much for this ... I figured it was simple, but then again I could totally mess up the simplest thing.
Good thing my best friend will be there who hosts all the time - she'll rescue me from myself!

You need 2 foil pans, one to hold hot water and the other to hold food. The water ones are slightly deeper than the food trays. Ask someone at party city to show you

i have a super easy bean dip recipe and it is soooo good
I use a pyrex dish
need 1 bar cream cheese 1 bag of shredded cheddar or cheddar jack or mexican blend or even taco (whatever ya want) 1 can hormel chili with beans u can do no bean too
spead cream cheese evenly in baking dish. spread hormel chili on top of cream cheese layer evenly. put an even layer of shreed cheese on top of the chili.
put in microwave 3 minutes or until cheese is melted or put in the oven until cheese is melted
i like this...u can put it together the night before then heat it up. sooo easy andd soo good. it is a good picking food paired with tostito scoops!

We mnake this dip for all parties and it's very filling and everyone LOVES it! So easy to make! I make it in disposable aluminum trays and heat in oven, bc cleanup can be messy!
The rest of your menu sounds great!!

I found the recipe on this old thread:

It sounds a lot like one I've had before at a friend's house, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't mess it up!

I was at Party City the other day and they had so much for the Super Bowl!

They also had these which are the buffet chafing dishes- the set is about 8pcs and it was really inexpensive!

I don't know if you will check this but, it helps to add boiling/hot water to the bottom pan. If you add cold you have to wait for the little sterno to boil the water in order to heat up the food, KWIM?
