Hot Spot ??????
What did it start out like ? Lola has lump that she keeps biting and licking . its gotten a little bigger.. Not infected or bleeding just raw and red.
I dont know what to do? Or what it really is? can anyone give me any advice before I go to the Vet and they tell me its a hot spot or a pimple. I put neosporin on it last night and kept her from licking it off.. It looked better but she started licking and biting it again this am.. Please if anyone knows what to do or if it could be a hot spot thanks .
So I just looked it up on line and this is a pic of it and its exactly what Lola has .. It even looks like the same breed dog

Re: Hot Spot ??????
My dogs get those all the time. I just tell them to stop when I catch them licking it and it usually is gone or at least much improved by the next day. Do you have a cone? Maybe you can put a cone on him/her so they don't lick it.

The vet may give you a hotspot spray. Work amazingly. Only thing is you really can't be sure what it is. Did she get groomed recently?

Re: Hot Spot ??????
How big is it on Lola? This is a pic of something we found on Ginger's elbow, is it like that? If so, ours turned out to be a Histiocytoma, benign, and it went away on it's own in a couple of months.

I should have said - the part I was talking about on her elbow is just the pink circle all the way on the right. That's about 1mm. The rest of it is just a callous from her laying on her elbow.
Here's a better shot. Just the red part - it looks similar to me. Is it that small? Half the size of a fingernail or smaller?

As a matter of fact thats exactly when i noticed it!!! I picked her up from the groomer and assumed she nicked her ? I think thats how it started and then lola kept licking it and now its a hot spot because of the moisture and she has skin alleriges to begin with and is very irritated lately due to the time of year? .. I have ointment the vet gave me for her paws when she starts chewing them .. I hate to use it because she licks more when I apply it .. so now I am trying that only if I can keep on top of her not to lick.. I gave her benadryl just now to try to stop the itching hopefully this will go away soon! and not get infected.

Re: Hot Spot ??????
Hmmm now that I see the pic, I may be wrong. Do you have a Comfy Cone? Whenever I have to put anything on the dogs (usually paw pads in the winter), I put the Cone of Shame on them. It's only for a short period of time, just to let it absorb before they lick the heck out of it.
I hope you have success with the Benadryl and spray.
