Re: hot tubs

yup! we do, and i also had one growing up at my parents...
they are great, and MUCH more "useful" than a pool because you can use them for more of the year (my parents have a pool and a hot tub and always say if they had the hot tub first, they wouldn't have gotten the pool- LOL).
i also find they're a little less work to maintain, too.
BUT you have to be ready for a big electric bill in the winter... it takes a lot to keep that water heated up and ready when its cold outside ( and, to me thats the best time to go in!! nothing like sitting in the hot tub when snow is falling on your head! Chat Icon )

Re: hot tubs

My parents had one at their old house. I loved that thing. We were always in it even in the dead of winter.
I wish we could afford one at our house now!!

We have one... it's nice to have, but we don't use it enough in the winter to make up for the TERRRIBLE electric bill Chat Icon

You should winterize it then for a few months in the winter. Then you can turn it off. Also I heard some models are REALLY not energy efficient. Which model do you have?

I am actually buying a hot tub next week. I can't wait, gonna blow some wedding gift savings we have had sitting around. Probably gonna be a Hot Springs Vista although I am not sure yet. I should have it by the middle of June.

Life will be good. I am actually redoing my entire back yard next week and putting down a nice concrete patio in preparation for the hot tub. This project is costing a fortune, but you only live once. Chat Icon

We decided on a hot tub over a pool with the intention of being able to use it year round (as opposed to 4-5 months of using a pool).

Re: hot tubs

My Il's have one. I never liked getting in and out of that thing in a bathing suit when it's FREEZING outside and it's worse when you're wet! The tips of my hair would freeze that got wet but weren't submerged when i was in it.
Personally, i'm not a fan of them, but my IL's love it.
