HOT YOGA IN MASSAPEQUA

Has anyone tried it yet. It just opened a few weeks ago. I am going this evening to try it out. I am so excited I hope I love it!

i go to the one in setuaket and i love it!!!!

i feel great during it and after, you feel so relaxed and stuff..like all stress melted away (you do melt, it is hot)

tips - don't eat before going, but if you're hungry, have a handful of strawberries, a banana, or some almonds...

...drink plenty and plenty of water before going!

Thanks so much for the tips I will let you know how it goes. Why can't you eat one hour prior??? What should I bring just water, towel and my mat?

Have fun! I take a hot yoga class in Oceanside and LOVE IT!

Like the PP said, don't eat at least an hour before - the heat can get to you and you will be moving....so, I usually like to go digested and not on a full stomach
Bring water, towel, mat & I use a towel for my mat as well because you sweat...ALOT!

yea i usually don't believe in all that "don't eat before working out" stuff, but i had a 1/2 veggie hummus wrap from trader joe's and felt sooooo sick during the yoga on my first day.

and water is so essential prior to going. i usually drink 4 bottles before, and make sure to pee before class. otherwise, you run the risk of getting dizzy and a headache.

since you are sweating, you are becoming dehyrdated, so water is crucial before class even begins.

it's such a cool experience though.

but also very gross. lol bring a towel for your mat and maybe a handtowel to dab your face. you literally are dripping!
some man got up to use the restroom and he dripped his sweat on me as he walked by (accidently)
lol

but it's definately worth it

Wow I really did not expect to love it but I really did! I don't think I could do it more than 2 times a week though. I guess along with my running, pilates, trainer and everythign else! I have to say I was really nervous about doing it for some reason! When I first walked into the room I was like OMG it is sooo HOT in here how am I going to stay in here for 90 minutes. I mean it felt like a sauna. Once class started I was still a bit nervous and after about 20 minutes I totally got into it. I cannot believe how your body just adjusts to the heat. I mean I brought a towel with me for my mat and it was soaked. I was dripping sweat but it felt amazing! I also brought another large towel to use to wipe myself off with. There were a bunch of men in the class too and I was surprised. The teather there was amazing! She said even if you feel dizzy or sick DO NOT leave the class just sit down and I saw one lady sit down for a bit rest and then continue! I am really not a spiritual person at all but I have to tell you after I was done I felt so pure and like all the toxins were cleansed out of my system. I felt so relaxed when I left it was amazing and at times I have really bad anxiety so this was amazing for me. I felt so light and relaxed when I got home and went to bed! Sorry I totoally just rambled on but thanks again for all the info!

Where is it in Massapequa? I love hot yoga, but i didn't know there was one so close to my house.

aww i'm glad you enjoyed it

i know what you mean - i'm not really religious, but there is something it does for your soul...like it's you against yourself and you get 90 minutues to focus on just you...there's no competition and you challenge yourself against yourself.

i find it hard to do consistently, as it is a good chunk of time...but it's great, isn't it?

i love how the men aren't like raunchy and stare at the women in the yoga pants...i noticed they all seem respectful...

...but that didn't stop me from ogling some men.

That's funny you say that about the men b/c I thought the same thing and told my friend that although there were a bunch of men in the class they were not checking out the girls like it was a meat market or something! It was great I think I am going to do it 2 more times before I decide on a package. They had a special which was $20 for 10 consecutive days!
