Hotdogs?
Are we allowed/supposed to eat hotdogs?? It seems it is the only meat (if you can even call it that) that I actually want lately? In moderation or not at all??

I think the biggest concern is nitrates...and they sell nitrate free ones at some stop and shops.

i believe that hot dogs are frowned upon because they contain nitrites and other less than healthy by-products.
having said that, i'm a firm believer that everything is okay in moderation, and i've had hot dogs when i've craved them.

Just make sure to cook it all the way through. I usually boil then grill them to make sure.

I ate hotdogs twice a week when I was pregnant with my DD  (not that I would advocate that) and so far she seems ok.

I have heard that you need to make sure they are thoroughly cooked. I have had quite a few over the last couple of months.

I called my doctor specifically about hotdogs and he said once a week, max. Between the nitrates and the salt - they are not the healthiest of foods!
If I'm really craving them, I have been getting turkey hot dogs.

I refuse to give up Hotdogs especially since it is the summer time. They say Hebrew Nats have less "junk" in them so I buy those. I also ate a footlong at Shea Stadium during a Mets/Yanks game.

As others have said, in moderation for the nitrates, and as long as they are served steaming hot (otherwise they carry a risk of listeria like deli meats).
