Did this show jump the shark or is it just me?
I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't this.

So, I'm guessing he's done with the institution - will work for an episode without a license by telling everyone else what to do, and then probably get it back the next week and all back to normal...
What a waste of a potentially great storyline.

It was definitely different then what I expected. I think next weeks will be back to normal. I think they felt like they had to pursue the institution storyline a bit because had the show opened with him back at work it would have defeated the whole purpose of the finale and him ending up at the institute...if that makes any sense LOL

I didn't see the whole thing but I liked that they have him figured out at the hospital.
I will watch the rest tonight.
I had an open mind about this season so I am not disappointed...yet.

I completely agree...he is an amazing actor! I liked the episode. It was good that he was able to work through some issues and I think that it will come into play throughout the season. I also found it very entertaining and comical at times as well! I am looking forward to the rest of the season!

It was nice because it was different. I love the actors/actresses on this show, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Hugh Laurie, but I am getting a little tired of the formulaic nature of the show (get diagnosis wrong about 20x, then almost kill patient, then some random thing happens that sparks the diagnosis for House and patient is saved).
Although DH and I were both really hoping that something physical was wrong with the one patient (the one that didn't move and was cured by the music box), so House could diagnosis her and cure her. Alas.....
