House settling.........
Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. Our house has only been built for less than a year. I am wondering what to expect and how to up keep all of this.

Re: House settling.........
you might get cracks in the wall/ceilings and your floors might squeak some as things 'settle'...

Re: House settling.........
I've heard of typical cracks forming from corners....like if in a basement, from the corner of a window and down wall diagonally

Re: House settling.........
Our house was finished in November and we moved in the next day. For me, I get cracks in the paint along where the molding is. Also..we are starting to get nail pops which are very common. My DH said that it's going to get even worse in the spring with the warmer weather...so we have to wait until we paint.

Re: House settling.........
Our house was built in 1958. DH is actually at this very moment repairing some "settling" effects! In a new house maybe, but since our house is older, I don't mind the waves and buckles so long as there's no structural issues.

Re: House settling.........
My Dh is a builder & his clients are told about settling so they can decide if they want to do custom paint right away or wait a year or so for everything to work itself out. My house is 22 years old & we have nailpops on the celing in the greatroom that need to be fixed. Its always something with a house.
