Re: housecleaning...private person or company?

I have a private person. She is insured and had references. She was also less expensive and more flexible than some of the companies I called.

She's due here in a few minutes so I can ask her about new clients. Last time I asked though she said she wasn't taking on any new clients. She is located in Babylon and I live in Bethpage.

Private person just because my husband used her for years.... I trust her more than i would trust random people from a company - and I dont want to have to be home every time the cleaning people come...

Re: housecleaning...private person or company?

Private person for sure. I have tried all the well known companies and been less than happy. I find that if you develop a relationship with one person things get done the way you want. Unfortunately, I lost a wonderful woman a few years ago and have not been really happy with anyone since.

Good luck!!

Private Person. Companies are def more expensive.

I rather give the $$ to a private person anyway.

I just asked her and she's not. She just picked up one new client with a huge home and they have 6 kids...it takes her a while to clean that home.

Anyway, she said in a few months ask her again so I will if you are still interested. Lindenhurst is no problem, it's just time right now. She did mention that she may start working 1/2 days Saturdays but not right now.

Sorry it didn't work out for now.

Re: housecleaning...private person or company?

Go with a private person. I usually did, but this last time we went with a company. Everyweek we got 2 different girls and they never did things the same way. Also, I had instructed teh first "team" on what to do and since there are new people every week, we had to do this everytime and it got annoying. I found some of the groups of girls did not work as hard as others, so some weeks my home was immaculate and sometimes I was doing alot of my own cleaning after. Everything about it was too random so i could never count on them even showing up.

Re: housecleaning...private person or company?

We use a company-- only because we could not find a person to come clean-- we don;t know many peopel in the area.

They are pretty annoying-- they have a key, and always show up before we have even left for work. They choose the weirdest things to clean the hell out of, and they do not put stuff back correctly- it BAFFLES me what they do-- really. Oh, and it's different people each time-- so, telling them special things needs to happen every time and they don't "learn" our house-- where stuff goes, etc.

In the end, I have no time to do it myself and the 10 to 15 mins it takes to put everything right is a ton easier than setting aside time to clean.
