How accurate are the dollar store tests?

I bought a few PG tests at the Dollar Tree today and am wondering how accurate they are for you. I tested today (only 8 dpo) and was disappointed. Obviously, it was a bit too soon to test anyway. Chat Icon

You know, I have heard mixed reviews. Some have said that while other tests showed a decent line, the dollar tree was very faint. Others say it's extremely sensitive. I used one back in May when I got pg for the short period of time and the line was clear as day - but I was 19 dpo. I think 8dpo is too early to expect a positive from any test b/c implantation might not have even happened - and even if it did, it takes a few days for the hormone to show up in the urine after that! Good luck, sorry I was not much help w/ the accuracy of the tests!

If you are a compulsive tester, those are the tests to use though! Only a dollar a pee, can't beat it Chat Icon That is how I justified it last month when I went on an obsessive streak of testing!

That's how I feel. I can't afford to spend more than a dollar a test if I am a compulsive tester!! Chat Icon

Then you're fine...just keep in mind that everyone is different as far as when a bfp shows up. So you're not out until AF shows up!! good luck to you! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I got my bfp on them at 9 or 10 dpo, it was very very very faint. The same day I tested with fmu, it was negative a few hours later, after a nap it was positive.

Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How accurate are the dollar store tests?

I personally don't like them....but is it only a $1 so why not...

They are known for many evaporates (you can only read them under 10min - after that they are invalid)....

When I got my BFP I kept testing with the $1 test and the line was very very faint but when I tested with FRER (which are the best-my favorite) the line was nice and dark....

I also got my BFP at 8DPO on the FRER but it was negative on the dollar test!!

GL!!!!

Re: How accurate are the dollar store tests?

I used them the month I got pg. I tested on 11DPO -13DPO. On Day 13 I got a positive so I went out and bought a digital just to confirm. They are good if you like to test a lot, that way you are not spending a ton of money.
