Re: How are all the new job...
Thanks for asking.
Im not liking it too much here. It has been extremely slow here, so I haven't been doing any "real" work.
I miss my old job - the people, my friends, midtown, my daily routine. Ironically, the things I hated most about my last job are the things I miss the most. Taking this job was a mistake. I should have never left. <-- There I FINALLY said it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The WTC area is horrible. Construction all over the place. Its very hard to get around the downtown area without stepping in mud & going through detours. My building faces ground zero, so whenever I look out my window, I see "the pit". Very disturbing.
The office here is quiet- you can hear a pin drop, Im used to a loud crazy trading floor enviornment. Im going stir crazy over here - 100% true to the definition!!!
It has been almost a month, but I am taking it day by day praying that the work will pick up & will actually get busy.
I dread coming here everyday & honestly everytime I walk through the front door of my building. The people here are nice, but thats about it.
Im homesick.

awwww I hope it gets better.
I stayed at my job even though my boss left. The new job was downtown right by you and I hated the area and the commute so I know what you mean.

Re: How are all the new job...
I got a BS write-up last week that includes stuff that even my boss (who wrote the report) doesnt' agree with and said that HR made her include it. I'm still P I S S E D about it, but trying to get over it.
Other than that though, it's great!

Re: How are all the new job...
I've been here 5 weeks now and like it. There's still a learning curve which I'm trying to overcome. But it doesn't help that they lady I report to went out on maternity leave 3 weeks early. There are two other project managers - one who's been here a year and the other who started a week before me. Both are somewhat junior to me, so there's an expectation that I should know what to do.
Even though I know I'm a good project manager, I kinda feel "lost" with how they do things here. The Client lead/Creative Director acts like I should know everything and seems annoyed when I ask questions. From what I've been told it's more a function of his personality than being annoyed with my questions, but it can be frustrating. My supervisor is great, she calls once a week to see how things are going. I try to keep it brief, but I'm so glad that she does call bc it's so hard to pick-up someone else's project load without a proper handoff.
Overall things are good... Finally getting my own projects and working less on stuff that has been in the works before I got here.
