How big of a factor is age & the pill?
I'm turning 30 next Friday and starting to freak out about having problems TTC. I've been on the pill for 12 years also which concerns me. DH doesn't want kids for another 3 years and infertility is a big concern for me. Of course yesterday everyone was questioning me about a baby and reminding me of how old I'm getting. Is it going to be more difficult to TTC at 33?
TIA, Kelly

I cannot tell u how much more difficult it can be at 33. U might not have a problem. You also might have underlying issues that can take time to diagnose and tests that have to be done and bla bla. It usually takes a woman with no issues up to a year or so to concieve. I will tell u--the bcp is very bad. U have been on it for many years--I woud get off and use condoms until u are ready. I do not want to scare u but my friends moms story was enough for me to never use them again. She is a documented case and was on 20/20 and other shows---u have higher risks of aneurysms the older u get and she got one. again--not to scare u but its been 12 years..I would stop--clean out my body and use other methods now. good luck!

I can understand how a situation like that could scare some people into not going on birth control, but at the same time, it is a patient's responsibility to inform themselves of the risks involved considering personal and family history. It is also the responsibility of the physician prescribing BCP to inform patients of the risks. I was informed and I dd not feel at risk. These risks can also increase if a woman is a smoker too. It is scary, but I think to say that BCP is bad is a bit of a generalization. I think it needs so be analyzed on a patient by patient basis.

yup--def agree--it is diff for everyone. I was just explaining I would give my body a break now--12 years is a long time. All docs recommend some sort of a break. If she is considering concieving in the future another means might not be a bad idea. I was on bcp for years..I then realized after pulling out the warning pack and it being about 2 feet long--along with what Ii saw it was not for me... She was asking about concieving--i still think taking a break before is a good idea.

You are right. It is a good idea to get the hormones out and the cycle "back to normal".
