How can I clean the couch?

We have a beige canvas-type couch from Pier 1 and it has gotten so dirty. There is pen on it and my DH has had far too many accidents when he's snacking late at night.

I am wondering what the best way to clean it would be? I don't have a steamer but I supposed I could rent one. The cushion covers do come off -- can I throw them in the wash? Or handwash them in the sink? Or would that ruin them?

I'd like to keep it clean without having to do a slip cover or anything becuase it's a nice shaped couch and I don't think a slip cover would look good on it.

We have microfiber and had a carpet cleaning company come out and clean them for us and they came out great until we messed them up again. You should see how much it is for just one couch for a professional to do it. IMO their machines are much better. If not I think you'd be safe to steam clean it yourself.

We were thinking about steaming our couch when we rent one for the carpets

I think have them steam cleaned. I want to do this when we move.

I was wondering the same thing...I have a light green canvas type couch and Casey likes to lay on there and snack when we are not looking!
