How can I confirm if a particular house is in a particular school district?
I will hopefully be going in to contract soon on a house. How can I confirm that the house is in the school district that I am told. I have no reason to doubt what the REA told me, I just like to be thorough.

you can call the main office of the school and htey can tell you, they have the maps..i did this a few times throughout our house search

The property is in nassau. I went to this website, but I can't figure out how to find the school district. Will it tell me the particular elementary school too?Which link do I go to?

After you put in the address and the info on the house is up, it should list the distrcit number on the heading in white. It will say, "section, block, lot #" etc. School district # is also listed. It will not tell you what elementary school it is though. Mine says distrcit - Plainedge 18. I called the distrcit office before we bought to find out what elementary school we were.

Thanks. It worked. I just need to find the elementary school so I will call the district office tomorrow.

I was going to suggest mynassauproperty too; however, you can also probably google the informtion. Just type in the follwoing:
"(town name) school district"
Should come up.

Elementary schools can vary year to year, based on that year's child population and distribution. The school assignments aren't done until the schools know who lives where, which is why you won't find it on other property websites.

Call the district clerk's office. Our house has a district line between two districts running right through the property. One district is good, the other is superior. It was a huge selling point of the house and NYS education law allows us to choose/declare which district we prefer and not pay tuition regardless of our post office. Before we even bid on the house, DH called the clerk's office of the better district, gave them the address, they punched it into the system and confirmed it.

Ask to see their tax bills. The school district number is on the tax bills and receipts.
