How can I tell if it's gas?
How can I tell if DD has gas or is constipated? She hasn't pooped on her own in 2 days...we did the thermometer thing and it worked like a charm...she then calmed down and went right to sleep. But...could it be gas? How can I tell what is going on? We can't do the thermometer thing everytime she's uncomfortable...even though it solves the problem immediately. Thanks.

Lifts her legs in the air, screams bloody murder.
Also if you hold her in your arms & do a deep knee bend and she stops crying, it's probably gas. (it temporarily relieves the pressure).

I am not huge on using med with young babies but I have to admit we couldn't take her screaming - we felt so bad - so we gave samantha mylicon (dr ok'd it!) and it worked like a charm, my dh calls it liquid gold!

You can also try the football hold, belly time, bicycling her legs, rubbing her belly (on the side of her belly button)

Re: How can I tell if it's gas?
Thanks everyone. There's not a constant screaming...but she's definitley uncomfortable in some way. Her belly is hard and she does scrunch her legs up. I bought the mylicon drops today...will try it.
