What do you mean? My doctor wanted me to go the full 40 - and wouldn't schedule me a c until then!!!
I only made it to 37 because my blood pressure went thru the roof and i went into labor on my own.

The high risk doctor told me with faternal twins they don't let you go past 38 weeks and with identical they don't let you go past 37 weeks.

I heard from My Dr. the placentas break down faster when there is more then 1 and even faster if they share a placenta.
Also the health risks to the mom become more severe .....

I wasn't seeing a high risk doctor - maybe thats the difference?
Either way though - i don't think many twin mommies go to the full 40 - not that i know anyway!
Everytime my doctor said to me - "oh, I am sure you will make it to the full 40" - i looked at him like he had 10 heads!!!!

I never thought to ask why but they induced me at exactly 38 weeks. For me, it was just in time because I was pretty miserable.

Re: How come they don't let you go past a certain week with twins?
I had identicals and my doctor said he would not let them go past 38 weeks because they shared the same placenta. He also would only do a c-section since that so I was originally scheduled for that time. They actually took them at 36 weeks due to issues with TTTS.

Me too-they were going to take them at 37-38 but I had preeclampsia-I went for my 35 week appt and he said head over to the hospital-you're graduating today! Once your babies start making breathing movements on the sono-they seemed pretty sure with the fact that they were ready. Though-they spent 7 and 9 days in the NICU-1st for breathing, then jaundice, then weight gain

My dr. was going to let me go to 39 weeks. Because I was would up in the hospital several times for contractions, we would up taking them at 37w5d. I had an amnio the day before to check for lung maturity.

Re: How come they don't let you go past a certain week with twins?
They scheduled me for a c-section at 38 weeks. Only because it was a repeat c-section & they didn't want me to go into labor. I didn't have a high risk Dr
