How did you decide to tell your family about IVF?
I'm afraid if I tell them about my issues it will take the surprise factor out of telling them I'm pregnant. (i.e. every time I say we should get together, they'll think it's because I'm pregnant). However, I don't like keeping this from them.

Re: How did you decide to tell your family about IVF?
It's up to you how open you want to be about the process and when you want to share you're pregnant.
Basically, my family knows I am doing IVF but only our immediate family know the details (when I have my transfer, betas, etc)
At this point it's less about surprising them about the news and more about just keeping our fingers crossed and being hopeful it sticks!! I know once I'm out of the first trimester there will be plenty of people who WILL be surprised!!
(Heck if I make it out of the first tri next time even *I* will be surprised )

Re: How did you decide to tell your family about IVF?
My family knew all along when we were having issues (I can't keep anything from my mom and my sis! ) but DH's parents were in the dark until we started IVF, we told them about two weeks before my ER because since I was having surgery we thought they should know about it.
We honestly went over there one night, sat on the couch and just said we have been having trouble TTC, spoke a little bit about our issues (primarily MFF) and said we have decided that we are doing IVF, this is pretty much the schedule of things and it is something we have thought about for awhile, ok, Good Night! They were very supportive and I was glad we told them when we did - and not any sooner bc I just couldn't personally deal with a million questions and feel sorry for us looks all the time. To this day DH's sister does not know.

Re: How did you decide to tell your family about IVF?
I'm not doing IVF but we are doing injectible cycles which is taking a lot out of us. My family has noticed a change in us and started asking what's wrong. We finally told them 2 weeks ago (my parents only). I'm glad I told them but my stepmom keeps asking questions which is a little annoying. I'd just like to tell them stuff when I feel like it. But its better that they know then trying to hide it. It was getting too complicated thinking up excuses for missing things and having bruises everywhere!

Re: How did you decide to tell your family about IVF?
my mom and brothers (yes, we're close lol) know that we have been struggling. They know bits and peices about me going for IUI's but they knoow nothing about when and what it actually means... Its too much pressure for me to have everyone asking/wondering. So I just dont divulge everything. A good friend of mine knows most of the details about timing... otherwise no one else really knows. If we did IVF I dont know how much id share. Pretty sure we'd never tell his family though. DH is EXTREMELY private about this

Ultimately, we did not do IVF. However, when we began to look into it more seriously we only told our parents. We went over for dinner separately to each and discussed it.

So is my DH. As of right now, we have not told anyone. We are still very early on in our IF journey, but once we officially get started I will then evaluate who I am going to tell.
