How did you know it was time for only 1 nap a day?

are there signs you recognized, or you just decided it was time?

Re: How did you know it was time for only 1 nap a day?

at about 14 mos DS started to really fight his afternoon naps. We were hit or miss with them for about a month.

I just gradually started moving his morning nap later and later.

He still naps on the early side in the morning (11-1) and then is up till bedtime at 7:30.

I am sooo glad to hear this. It just took them almost 2 hours to fall asleep. i was about to give up, and they've been doing this a lot recently.
I reallly think they still need the two naps, but I don't know why they are taking forever to fall asleep.

DD is doing the same thing, her secon nap is a half hour at most and its taking her forever just to get down...not sure if its her fighting it or she's really going to one nap...she has been sleeping later in the mornings so who knows..

I thought DD was dropping to one nap at that age but didn't for another two months. She started by really fighting her morning nap and then just stopped taking it entirely. Her afternoon nap became earlier and is typically 2 hrs or so.

Try moving up that afternoon nap and putting them to bed about 15-20 minutes later. My Dr suggested shortening the naps to 45 mins but that is way too short for my kids
