How did you know your child was ready to go from 2 naps to one?

How long is the one nap a day? How long were their 2 naps before they switched? Once they went to one nap did they sleep longer at night? shorter? or no different at all?

Lauren just went to 1 nap within the last month. I would put her down for her morning nap and she just wouldn't nap. Her afternoon nap of course is a lot earlier, and she naps about 3 hours total with 1 nap.

It has not affected her night sleeping at all. Actually, she is going to bed a little earlier and waking at same time.

She just did it herself. All of a sudden, she started sleeping 2-3 hours in the morning and not taking an afternoon nap. It's the weirdest thing because she's up around 7:30, then by 9:30, she's exhausted again, sleeps until 11:30-12:30, then is fine until 7 at night when she goes to bed. I mean, she'll get tired in the late afternoon, but I notice that she just plays quietly, she doesn't need that nap. It hasn't affected her nightime sleep one bit. If anything, she's so happy for bedtime now.

Aly is 12.5 mths old and is just starting to transition to one nap a day.... on the days that she only takes one...she just doesntget tired till later in the AM and then winds up sleeping for 2 or 3 hrs and doesnt get tired again till bedtime. She still takes 2 naps some of the days but I can tell that she is weaning from the second one....

ETA : when she takes just the one nap its usually 2.5 - 3 hrs.....when she takes 2 naps...usually the long one is the first one, about 2 hrs long...second one is shorter....maybe 45 min. None of this is changing her sleep at night. just the teething!!!Chat Icon
