How did you pick your pediatrician?

Did you interview a handful or did you pick from a list? DH actually wrote down some names from a book called best Dr's in NYt at our Dr's office but I am not sure if I should just pick one or interview?

I asked my ob/gyn and also asked for recommendations on the parenting board. We only interviewed one b/c he was highly recommended

I was actually recommended a pediatrician in my neighborhood by a few friends and family members. My husband and I will meet with him for an interview in August and determine whether or not we feel comfortable with him.

I think the best thing to do is go with the recommendations first and then eliminate them based on your interview experience.

I did not even interview. I chose mine based on recommendations from both my family/friends and my obgyn. I did call the office and spoke to the receptionist and i asked whatever questions i had. I am not too worried bc like I said they come very highly recommended. I figure if for some reason I do not like them I can always switch later on...

She was recommended to us by some people. And after, we found out a few of our best friends also use her.

I made sure to ask my friend, who I believe takes the best care of her kids I have ever seen, who they use and went with him.

i have 3 ped names from people i know.. i want to interview them and see which i like best.

ours is a family friend

He was the pediatrician on call when I delivered and my doc gave a great recommendation for the practice.

I have 2 in mind so far:

1 is the wife of my DH's endocrinologist and we think that DH's endo is great so we want to check her out. Her practice has raves reviews here on LIF.

The other is a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopath) and I am very interested in using this type of doctor. She also has rave reviews here in LIW.

Both take my insurance and both have admitting privileges where I am delivering. I will also get the list that my OB maintains and see who he recommends.

Oh and office hrs and having another doc avaialable was a big factor on us going with the ped.
