How did you tell work?

I'm not sure how to approach telling my job. I have already told a few close friends at work that I am pg but am not sure how to tell my boss. My direct supervisor is out on temporary disability so the next person up the chain is my COO. Should I tell my COO now and send an email to my direct or just wait till my direct is back? He's been out on a serious injury for almost 2 months now and is expected to be back in 2 weeks. Knowing the stress of what it's like to be back in the office after being out for so long, I don't want to put added stress on him when he is still trying to settle back in.

I was very nervous to tell work b/c it's not such a pregnancy friendly place. I went to dep't head's office and asked if we could talk (I think he thought I was gonna quit). I shut the door and quickly said, "I just wanted to let you know that I am pregnant. I am not sure what the protocol is, but thought I should tell you first." He said congrats and offered to tell the rest of the partners and admin. It wasn't half as bad as I imagined!

In your situation, I would tell the COO and ask him what he thinks - when and whether you or he should tell your immediate boss. I hope that helps!

I was at a business conference with my manager. We went to dinner, and she ordered wine. I didn't drink ANY.

She than asked me, are you pregnant? I said yes.
