How do/did you make it thru the day at work with sickness?
I am 8 weeks now and the sickness has really started to set in. I feel nauseous all day and want to crash at my desk. Even the water is making me sick and I am having a hard time with it. I want to go home so bad and get into bed. I can't let this affect my work though and I have so much to do.
Any suggestions/advice on how to get through the day at work feeling like this? Nobody knows I am pregnant.
TIA

Re: How do/did you make it thru the day at work with sickness?
I'm just over 6 weeks but nausea has set in I find that if I go too long without eating or having a snack to hold myself over to lunch I get very nauseous (like today I had to wait 20 minutes for my lunch order in my building and I thought I was going to faint!!). I know sometimes it's hard, but drinking water should help....for me it has to be ice cold, warm water when I'm nauseous makes me feel more gross. It does make it harder that no one at work knows, since I can't tell people to keep their stinky lunches away from me or I'll barf

I told my supervisor that I am pregnant and that on some days MS kicks my butt. So she told me to just close my office door and relax for a bit when I need to. Saltines and gingerale have also become my best friend.

Sorry you feel so bad. I found that if I ate small things every hours (saltines, goldish, anything with a little salt) really helped. The hunger is what was making me nauseous. I only got nauseous two times this whole pregnancy and it was when I waited too long to eat. I would keep saltines by my bed and literally as soon as I woke up I would eat a few. It really helped. Plus I always sipped ginger ale.
hope you feel better soon. I also keep prego pops with me all the time. Theyre sour sucking candy that may help you

Hard candy helped for me.... I didn't like the taste of ginger, so I sucked on a lot of cinnamon discs....the ones that you can buy at CVS, rite aid, etc....

Re: How do/did you make it thru the day at work with sickness?
I had the WORST morning sickness with my first pregnancy (and it seems to be starting with this pregnancy too - 6 weeks tomorrow)... it would begin as soon as I ate lunch and last till I went to bed at night - for an entire 7 months!!!
I always had saltines and seltzer by my desk at work. I also kept Listerine and antibacterial wipes handy for the times I had to run to the bathroom. I was literally throwing up 2 to 3 times per day at work! I would then go home, sleep for 4-5 hours, wake up, eat dinner, throw it up and go back to sleep.
It was horrible but I somehow managed to make it through work and never missed a day. DH was in change of cooking and cleaning - I needed a break at home because i was working full time and so sick.
Seltzer and saltines seemed to make a difference. And I also found that Mexican food (my BIG craving with DD) was easier to keep down than anything else.
Lots of to you. I know how much it sucks! I hope you start to feel better. It does get easier - and for most women, it only lasts a few weeks.

Re: How do/did you make it thru the day at work with sickness?
I drank seltzer and made sure I kept eating lots of carbs actually. Bagels, toast, english muffins, corn muffins... Whateva I could keep down that was bland. Bland worked for me. Plain rice some days was my dinner... I couldnt eat anything in a marinade or dressing for a really long time...
On days it got really bad I drank ginger ale... And I always kept a snack in my bag like a trail mix or crackers... And always had a bottle of seltzer with me or bottled water and Id cut up lemon and put it in...
I constantly drank A LOT of water as well with lemon... Thats a natural defense against nausea...
It will ease up and go away, it just takes time...

Re: How do/did you make it thru the day at work with sickness?
I had really bad MS with my 2nd pregnancy. I found out that if I ate every hour or so it made the nausea a little better. I always had crackers, PB, chips, sucking candies with me so that I could snack at any time.
I can't tell you how many times I got sick at work. Luckily I was able to make it to the bathroom every time. I ended up telling my job around 8 weeks because I was so sick and couldn't hide it anymore.
