How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
My very generous sister got me a $75 gc to gap for maternity clothes. I am itching to use it today online (there isn't one near me, I know I could wait til Monday and go in the city, but....)
If this helps, I wear a small in Motherhood clothes, but I feel that won't last forever.

If you buy pants have some strech in them then buy your regular size if they dont have strech in them then buy a size bigger. I also suggest the demi panel pants. They really grow with you. As far as tops buy what ever size you would wear normally if you were not pg. I think Motherhood runs pretty big and I also got a small in their store but gap I would buy a medium.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
I am generally a 2 at the gap so i buy that size in their maternity. It said to do that [buy your regular size] on their website. as far as shirts, that's hit or miss for ME b/c some styles fit differently. i am currently wearing XS and S. Things fit a bit loose now so I'm not really worried about how it will fit in the end. I am pretty sure that I'll be able to wear MOST of my pants until the end. One pair has no panel but has an adjustable elastic band on the inside [like toddler pants ] and so those might not fit in the end...but I have them as tight as possible and they are loose now...so who knows.

DUH! I should have read the instructions.
I am all confused because I lost 13 lbs during the first 14 weeks of my pregnancy, so I am not even sure if my regular size is the same. I am just going to use what I had been wearing.
Thanks ladies!

You know, I never wore GAP pants prior to the wedding...so i went to the GAP near me and tried on pants to see what fit for the most part. obviously i had to find something that was slightly snug...but not painful as i was showing some at 6 weeks. maybe try that? if it doesn't fit, you can return it to a regular GAP store. HTH.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
Wow, I thought their pants were pretty true to size. I think the length is a joke though. I am usually a regular rarely a long in jeans at Gap but if I don't have Tall ones now it's like the floods are coming.

haha..that's almost all maternity pants. they are never perfect...even in 2006, they just haven't perfected this part of fashion. they charge enough for it...you think they'd plan more.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
I also felt the pants ran small. Shirts I was pretty much my usual medium until my last 6 weeks.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
I just ordered from gap. If you spend over $100, the shipping is free. You can also return to any gap store if it doesn't fit. I remember reading from another poster that she orders in 2 sizes and then returns the one that doesn't fit. HTH and happy shopping.
BTW: I don't know what my pre-maturnity gap size really was so I can't help with that. I also only ordered tops. I used their sizing charts and I am happy with how everything fits.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
Thanks for the help ladies!
I just bought 4 tops. I ordered mediums (I was between a small and a medium pre pregnancy) and I also checked that there is a gap maternity at 34th and Broadway, so if they don't fit, I can always go there after work. (I hate staying after work if I don't have to )
I appreciate all of the help. They have cute tops and that is what I needed.

Re: How do Gap Maternity clothes run??
Where do you live? They have a Gap Maternity in Roosevelt Field if that's close to you. It's in the back of the Baby Gap store. I was a size 2 or 4 prepregnancy and am a size 2 in their maternity pants. As far as the tops, I started out as a small and am now a medium or a large, depending on the style of the shirt and whether it was fitted to begin with, etc. My smalls are now lifting up in the belly area . Also, if you're really petite, you're best off ordering the pants online. I found the Gap maternity in RF was always out of the ankle length, which was still long on me (then again, I'm only 5'1").

Thanks for the advice. I wish I was near RF! I live on Staten Island!
Thanks for the tip about the pants, I am 5'0'!
