How do I brush DS's teeth (he's 13 mos)?
I've tried that thing that you slide over your fingertip from Gerber, but he bites my fingers so hard! Should I switch to a toothbrush? Is there a certain technique to this?
Thanks!

Re: How do I brush DS's teeth (he's 13 mos)?
Use a regular childs toothbrush. We make it a game here. I tell DS that I have to look for cookie monster, elmo, etc in his teeth, he is usually laughing so hard, that cleaning his teeth is not a problem. He also likes to do it himself( he is 18 months old) and will just bite on the brush, but as long as I get a few GOOD brushes in, I do not stress about it. My 4 year old was the same thing, and he just had his first dentist appt. ALL good!

Re: How do I brush DS's teeth (he's 13 mos)?
I make it a little game. I read a book to him that has a cute little rhyme on one page about brushing teeth. So I used that rhyme to teach him what brushing was. He got a kick out of it.
Now I say "Time to brush your teeth!" and he RUNS to the bathroom saying "Teeth! Teeth!". I let him do everything which he loves - turn on the light, he opens the cabinet, takes out his toothbrush, turns on the faucet and I brush along with him.
We also have been using a regular toddler toothbrush since the beginning.

I did the same - a game to brush out characters hiding behind their teeth - looking for Dora, Boots, etc. later it changed to what food they had.

I give Noah a toothbrush to play with at bathtime, by the time he comes out of the tub and has played with it, he starts to chew on the bristles and lets me brush his teeth. It has taken us about 4 months to get to this point though!!!

We brush away the cavity monsters with a Superman Spin brush - DS is 3 so he is used to it now. The Superman brush with "super power" was a real turning point for us.
