How do I explain a time lapse in my resume
Without divulging I have a family. I received a lucrative severance package at my last job due to a corporate seperation, at the end of my maternity leave

How long was the lapse? Is it possible to "overlook" the lapse?

Well "technically " I did field customer inquiries, set up appointments, handled estimates and advertising for DH's powerwashing business

well just embellish on that. list it exactly as you listed it here and explain that it is a family owned and operated company. when you go on an interview and they ask why you're looking to go back to work, just say its better for your marriage to no longer work together. make a joke out of it kinda thing. IMO, it shows you're family oriented and still career minded.

ITA. You are listing what you did and even the fact that you stopped working to start a family is a good reason for a lapse in your resume.

Re: How do I explain a time lapse in my resume
in this day and age, it is totally acceptable to have a lapse on your resume due to starting a family...and not that you want to reveal too much of your personal information, you can spin it as someone says above in your favor by showing you are both career and family oriented ie talk up hwo you will do what it takes AND have VERY reliable daycare!
