How do I get fatty pants to sleep in his crib???Please help, on a time crunch.

Brody just turned 4 months on Tuesday, and is weighing in at about 19 lbs.

The weight limit on the bassinet is 15lbs. I need to get him in his crib, in his room. I am having surgery the 1st week in Feb, and will be out of commission for at least 1 week, maybe 2.

My Mil will be staying with us.

Well, anyway I would like to have him sleeping the night in his crib, by then. It is about 3 weeks from now.

How do I do it?? Do I still swaddle him?

Please be specific, because I am at a loss. Ava was a much easier baby, so it was no trouble when we made the move. Brody screams bloody murder, when I just lay him in his crib for a few minutes!!!

HELP!!!!

If you are swaddling him now, continue to swaddle him. Switching him to the crib and taking off the swaddle is too much change at once, IMO.

Start with naps, so if he doesn't sleep as long as usual, or doesn't sleep at all, he won't be keeping you up. I would hope that after a few times of not sleeping during nap time, he will just pass out in there.

Do you have a mobile or music you can use to soothe him? We started playing lullaby CDs in his room once he moved into the crib. Try to keep the light level the same as it is when he is in the bassinette.

I would continue to swaddle him. We swaddled Kaydyn until she was about 6 months.

As the PP said maybe get a white noise machine, or play some music. We put a classical CD on for Kaydyn every night. As soon as she hears us put on the music she knows she's going to sleep.

Me too-lol

I would start by putting him in the crib for naps, thats what I did with Todd Jr, so that for a few days so he gets use to being in his own room, then make the switch at night. Chat Icon
