How do I make these calls? UPDATED

My SIL sent me an email of six people who have not RSVP'ed yet for my shower next weekend. She told me that she needs to give the restaurant the final numbers by Tuesday afternoon. In the email she asked me to help her call these people as a favor to her. She has planned everything b/c my mom has been very sick.
How to I call these people with out looking like an A$$? I would hate to ask my SIL to make these calls because she has done so much already. What do I say to these people?
Why can people RSVP on time????? The RSVP date was March 1st. Should I wait until Monday night to call? Should I have DH call? What would be appropriate? My mom can't do it, my MIL feels uncomfortable doing it (as per SIL's email), and SIL is overwhelmed doing b/c she is doing everything.
Any opinions/advice welcomed. TIA

UPDATE: DH said that he does not feel comfortable calling and to just count these people as not coming or tell the restaurant to add three people just in case a few of them show up. When he found out who was not responding he remembered that three of the six did not RSVP to our wedding and those three just showed up. I forgot about this, but DH has a great memory. So SIL is going to tell the restaurant the final number plus three.

Not pg, but do you know about the shower? Personally, I would feel weird if the shower recipient called me to ask if I was coming. I think DH should do so that it looks like you don't know about it. JMO.

I don't think you should be the one checking on these people since it's your shower People ****!! Why can't they be responsible and RSVP ontime!

I would have your DH call. People are so incredible!! I two second RSVP phone call is not too much to ask!

I know the date & time that's it. Everything else is a surprise. LONG story but there were a lot of reasons why i had to know about it. I agree with you.
I guess will have my DH call, but does that look bad as well? This gets me upset b/c I wish my mom was well enough to take care of these details.

I don't think it looks bad if DH calls. DH was a part of my bridal shower (making invitations, sneaking addresses from my wedding planner) so I don't think anyone would be weirded by him having a part.

I agree, you ought to not be the one to make the calls, it would look out of sorts... DH would be ok to do it! People are ridiculous and rude for not replying

Definitely have your DH call, or even ask a close friend to make the calls. I do think it would be a little weird if you called.

That's funny - I just read this too late. I was going to post to FM me the numbers because it's absolutely ridiculous to have you call. I know your SIL is overwhelmed but she should be asking some of your friends for help, not you.
