How do I put eye drops in her eye?
Poor little baby girl woke up this morning with yellow green crusty eye. I called Dr. and they prescribed an antibiotic eye drop.
How do you get an eye drop into an infant's (8 days old) eye?

Not for nothing, but I would question giving an 8 day old antibiotics for (what sounds like) a clogged tear duct.
I know a lot of girls here had newborns with clogged tear ducts and they went away with a little bit of warm water on a cotton ball or washcloth. My son had a clogged tear duct for 12 weeks, it was gross and gooky. He did have a course of antibiotics, but it did nothing.
Just my two cents. Signed, a big know it all.

Awww....poor little girl!!
I'd try to do it while she was sleeping. Pull the eye open a tad and squeeze it in.
I hope she's better soon!!!

DD had the same thing at just about the exact same age - I'm not sure how much of the drops actually made it into her eye, but it was gone the next morning.

I agree with this. Both my kids had clogged ducts when they were newborns and didn't need drops.
DS needed drops later in life and it's easiest to put the drop in the corner of the eye and let it run into the eye.

Re: How do I put eye drops in her eye?
When Lucas had pink eye we had to give him drops. Easiest was to double team him. DH would give him the bottle and I would put the drops in. I also found that when he refused to open his eyes it worked to put the drops in the corner so that it would drip in as soon as he opened them.
Lucas has and still has a problem with clogged tear ducts...although it's getting better and now only in one eye. Best thing so far has just been warm water compresses at least 4 times a day. We do our best to keep the eyes clean.

Re: How do I put eye drops in her eye?
My son had clog tear ducks as well and we had to give him drops only when it was infected. I use to just put him in the crib on his back and put the drops in the corner of each eye. Usually when the're that little they don't blink as much when some thing is close to their eye. (atleast not my ds) Good luck and I hope he feels better soon.
