How Do I Sell A Car...
...with a lien on the title?
We are looking to sell DH's 02 Ranger, but we still have a loan out on it. I wanted to list it on eBay but how do we resolve the loan and get the buyer a clean title?
TIA!

Re: How Do I Sell A Car...
I have just recently sold my car (after four months and not being in the country ). I had a lien and it takes a little bit more time. Call up the bank that you have a loan with and ask what to do, b/c some banks are different.
That being said, what I did was when I got my buyer I made sure to get a deposit, then paid off the loan at Chase (where my loan was from). Because it was under 4000 I was able to pay it off at teh local branch. Had it been over 4000 I would have had to send a bank check to the main office in Texas. Then they send you back a paper (forgot the name) that said I paid it off and it is released. I dont know what was done after that, b/c my parents did the rest for me b/c I am overseas. The process took a few days, so you should tell buyers this, b/c some want it right away.

Re: How Do I Sell A Car...
I am selling an 2003 pathfinder with a lien- it's not fun regardless
you can sign the title over to the new person then pay off the car with the money they give you and then they can get a refresh title
there is a spot on the back for you to sign it over
I 'm not sure if that is right- but that's my plan - I sold an ATV this way and it was fine
