How do I stop my mom
I know my mother means well and that she is excited about having another grandchild...especially since she is convinced that this one is a girl...(she has 2 grandsons) but how do I stop her from telling everyone and I do mean everyone that I am pregnant. I'm only 9 1/2 wks....and I really didn't want to make any big announcements until the 12 wks mark...but my mother can't seem to help herself this time around. When my sister was PG with my nephew and When I was PG with James my mother waited until we were both 20 wks before making any announcements to the rest of our family. I think this is why I am so shocked that she is being so casual about telling everyone so soon...especially with high risk factor involved.

Re: How do I stop my mom
She sounds very excited! I guess just let her know that whenever she feels really excited to call you instead- until you are 12 weeks!

Re: How do I stop my mom
Good luck! I told my parents no telling - just them since I was only 8wks and had a previous m/c. Well that didn't work- Group Family email goes out with the news. I was ready to kill.

Re: How do I stop my mom
I wish I had an answer for you. My mom did the same thing.
ETS: then when I had a bleeding scare at 10 weeks, she knew exactly why I didn't want her telling everyone. Not an ideal way to get my point across. But, at that point everyone knew already so god forbid anything happend, I told her SHE would be the one to tell eveyone what happened.

Re: How do I stop my mom
My MIL couldn't even wait a day before she started telling people- even though she had been asked to keep it quiet. I was only 6 weeks at the time.

Re: How do I stop my mom
Awwwww, she is so excited. My mom did the same thing. Just think positive regarding the 12th week mark. Let her enjoy the excitement and you should too. and god forbid something does happen, you know its so common its not a shocker anymore to people that you have to worry about them, just think of all the support you would get too. But lets not think that way!!!! You are fine!

Re: How do I stop my mom
The first time I was pregnant, we told my MIL when I was about 7 weeks. We told her that we didn't want to "announce" to everyone so soon. Well, I didn't have much say I guess because half the extended family knew within about 3 hours!! Unfortuntely, I had a MC with that pregnancy and it was horrible to have to go back and tell people who had already heard the news. My MIL knew I was not happy about it.
With this pregnancy, I waited until about 15 or 16 weeks and then told the family. I knew that I couldn't tell her sooner because she just wouldn't be able to hold it in. The family is famous for "don't tell anyone else, but....". I am glad I kept it a secret between me and my husband so long - it was kinda nice.
