How do I teach the Scientific Method?

I am confused where to even start!!!

It's just a basic lesson on the actual scientific method not leading into anything specific really.

I LITERALLY spent all day trying to figure this out and as I reached for a handful (OK, the whole bag!) of Skittles...I realized...DUHHHH!! There is my lesson plan.

I am going to have them solve the question of which color is dominant in a bag of skittles?

What grade level? I have a few ideas that could be used 5-10.

I taught a whole unit on this for 6th grade, not sure what grade you are teaching.

I think anything you do that illustrates the steps to the scientific method in a hands on and simple way will work. The skittles idea could be really good because it's motivating and shouldn't be too hard for them. You want the focus to be on the steps to the method so a crazy experiment wouldn't be good. sounds like you're on the right track
