how do i wean my 9 month old from bfing 1 time at night???

my 9 month old still wakes every night 2-10 times!
i nurse him 1 time and have recently only been giving him 1 boob to try to wean him.

i don't want to start a pacifier habit if i don't have to.

the main problem is he wakes so many times a night and i mainly let him cio but he keeps waking (even after i feed him 1 time.) like last night he woke at 330am so i fed him but then he woke at 530 on and off till 8am.. now he stands there freaking out and we have to lay him back down. some nights he only sleeps 2 hours at a time.

HELP!!!!

i'm hoping if i stop nursing him then he may wake less. how do i do it though. cio just doesn't work bc he does it all night anyway. and he doesn't take a bottle and i even send dh in to put him down but then he pops up again in a few minutes.
