How do I win the baby name battle?

So I have a good six months to think about names but DH has already shot down some of the names I like. Actually we have our girl's name but DH is convinced it is a girl and we won't need a boy name.

How do I use my feminine charms to get him to see it my way?Chat Icon

So far I like the following combinations

Vincent Joseph Fxxxxkowski
Roman Krzysztof (DH's first name)
Vincent Roman
Roman Alexander
Vincent Alexander

DH doesn't seem to like Roman and he is afraid of a kid being called Vinnie.

I know this is selfish, but if I carry this child for 40 weeks, can't I name it?

I bet after seeing you go through labor, he will let you name the baby anything you want. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well I really disliked my DH's first choice for a boy name and he disliked my first choice for a girl....so we made a deal - if it's a girl he names her, and if its a boy I name him.

I knew I liked his girl choices even though they weren't my first choice so I feel that either way the arrangement was a win win for me (as long as he didn't name my son what he wanted toChat Icon I was happy )

There were names we didn't agree on but we found ones we both liked.

I think if one party HATES the name then you can't really use it. But if the are worried about a nickname then you agree- NO NICKNAME allowed and correct people if they use a nickname.

I feel you can just "feel" the right now when you find it.

Scream like hell in the delivery room, even if it's not that bad and the pain meds work. Scream like bloody hell and then give him grief if he doesn't give you at least THE NAME after all that WORK!!!

I love it! This sounds like fun.

I actually just tried something that is working. I just came up with some really wild trendy first names and convinced DH that I really like them. Now he is rethinking some of my choices as a lesser of the evils.

Re: How do I win the baby name battle?

We disagreed on every name, I wanted Alyssa Nicole and he wanted Priscilla Marie. We were still argueing about this in the hospital until after he saw me go through labor naturally, he said and I quote "OMG I have never seen anything like that in my life, I have a new found respect for woman, Honey you can name her anything you want" And Alyssa Nicole was born!

Re: How do I win the baby name battle?

Since you still have a good amount of time, just keep working on him. If you really don't like any of the names he is picking, just keep shooting them down. DH and I kind of did that with each other and by the end, we had agreed on names for boys and girls. You still have plenty of time to wear him down!!

Re: How do I win the baby name battle?

I suggested DS name to DH and he loved it but I was on the fence about it and their was no changing his mind. Now I can't picture Luka with any other name. The next time I told DH I am picking the name. I like Roman Krzytof and Roman Alexander. As far as the nickname issue. People will call your child whatever you do. My mother does not like nicknames at all and one of my brother's is Christian. Nobody calls him Chris and if they do he corrects them and h 20 years old. So if you deciede on Vincent or a name you can shorten than just correct people when they call him a nick name

Re: How do I win the baby name battle?

I guess I'm really lucky....we really didn't disagree at all on names.

I really like Vincent. If he doesn't want people nicknaming him Vinny......tell him you'll make his nickname Vince or you'll just correct people and tell them no nicknames.

You do have plenty of time to wear him down....Good luck!!
