How do you clean your BBQ grill? grates etc.
Our BBQ (Weber) grates are looking pretty dirty this year. How do you clean them? What products do y ou use? How do you get the gunk off them?
TIA

The best bet is to not let it get to that point.... Usually we use the wire brush immediately after we remove the food. That way the food & gunk just comes right off. If you wait for it to cool it makes it a lot harder.
I've heard that sticking the grill in the oven and using the self cleaning feature works... Maybe try that?

I agree with lorich..I use a grill brush right after I remove the food. 2 weeks ago, when I was getting the grill ready for the season, I realized I forgot to clean it the last time we used it I found this stuff in Home Depot (I'll have to get the name when I get home) that I swear, worked like nothing else I've ever seen, especially made for porcelin grill grates. I sprayed it on, waited about 10 minutes and then the gunk came of soooooooooooo easily. I then soaked the grates in hot soapy water and to make sure I got all the spray stuff off, I ran it through the dishwasher a couple of times.

I throw them in the dishwasher and they come out great. But I do agree. We use the wire brush after each grilling. I just throw them in the dishwasher once in awhile for a more thorough cleaning.

I use a piece of scrunched up aluminum foil...scrub it with it and when I am finished cooking and scrubbing mine, I let it burn for a further 15 minutes or so...
Well thats what I did after our dinner tonight!!

I let the grill go on high for about ten minutes, scrub the gunk off with a brush and then let it burn off for another ten minutes or so.

I used Easy Off BAM last year and it came off really easily. We have the stainless grates and the booklet said not to use a wire brush to scrape off the gunk.
