How do you feel about forwarding negative health care reform e-mails to the White House?
I saw this today and wondered how people felt about it.

I think it's a PR move to make people feel like the White House is interested in hearing from you the individual and getting you involved in the healthcare reform discussion and help distribute accurate information to your group of friends and family.
However, if even 10% of people forwarded the negative emails that are sent around it would probably crash their server. I have a cousin who sends at least 3 angry and often incorrect anti-DNC emails every week that she drafts herself after seeing or reading something that sets her off, and then she forwards several more that someone else wrote.

I think that is "fishy". Why should the whitehouse care about what people are saying and doing. Why not try and explain to AMerica what the healthcare plan really is. Address the private coverage and end of life...tell us what it means. And take real questions!
The White House trying to keep track of what is being said sounds Nuts. Stop wasting that time and money and clear the air. People really don't want to waste their time writing letters and protesting. They do have better things to do but if they are scared and want some answers...just give it to them.

it's like the inquisition! informing on your neighbors....
is this the mccarthy era?
is this china where you cannot speak out against the govenment?
are we in cuba?
Only a few short years ago it was said by Hillary Clinton that “dissent is the highest form of patriotism.” But now when the shoe is on the other foot, the DNC labels Americans who speak out against the nationalization of healthcare as “angry mobs.” This would almost be laughable if wasn’t so scary.

I honestly think there is so much 24/7 cable news network spin that is making everyone nuts and spinning everyone around. The facts are out there but we are so bombarded with other BS we don't know what to believe. I also think some people like one of the previous posters hear one or two things that sets them off and runs with it whether is true or not. That creates way more "noise" than necessary. I think the White House should care. I don't think any administration before this really did.
This type of stuff does create the "angry mob" scenario. It's good for us to get our voices heard. We're angry because we are getting our information from unreliable sources and it's not accurate.
Fear mongerers circulate all kinds of electronic babble that would make any person in the right mind angry. Never in any other situation before did we have the electronic media to help us or hurt us. It's part of our modern world and it's helpful and hurtful and also unprecedented.

Re: How do you feel about forwarding negative health care reform e-mails to the White House?
They seem to want to show that they are invested in knowing what's out there so they can do 'damage control' relevant to righting incorrect or misinformed opinions about health care reform.
I think it is primarily - as indicated previously - a PR move. But it also makes me slightly uncomfortable too.
Although it doesn't SAY to report your neighbors or friends .. the idea that they used the term "casual conversation" leaves me with an icky feeling.
The White House IS saying that they are not 'collecting names':
They Are Not Making A List And Checking It Twice..

This is exactly how I feel about it. Funny too, how when Ann Coulter was attacked at a college campus with kids coming up on stage after her it was just students voicing their opinion, but now that citizens are only verbally expressing opposition to the healthcare bill it's an unruly mob.
