How do you fly with fertility meds?
I will need to fly on Friday for a wedding and I will need to check my follistim pen and meds in a bag. Usually my follistim is refrigerated...is it ok for it not to be?

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
When I travel (although I haven't flown with my meds) I put it in a bag with an icepack or two...

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
I bought those soft-sided cooler bags (Target has them) and put a few ice packs in with them. Be SURE to have a letter from you Dr. saying you have meds and that the name on the prescription matches the name on your i.d. I always pack 2 bags - one for carry-on and one to pack in my suitcase, just in case something happens to one or the other.

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
If I pack the meds in my suitcase that I'm checking, do I still need a note from my doctor? I didn't even think about needing a note.

You need a note especially for the needles.
If you are only packing in your suitcase no, you wouldn't need a note. But I always carried one just in case. They can fax it to you as same day.
I would still take some in the carry on just in case your luggage (God forbid) gets lost....

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
I would never recommend checking medication. It's important to make sure it stays with you at all times. You never know if they are going to lose your luggage or it might pop open, etc.
Like Kara said, get a note from the doc.
My sister has MS and needs to give herself an injection every night. When she flys she gets a soft sided cooler bag, and wraps the meds in a papertowel in a plastic baggie.
She puts the doctor's note in the bag so everything is together. No problems since.

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
Never pack the meds. Lost or misplaced luggage is not uncommon. You could have no meds for days. Not worth the risk IMO.

Re: How do you fly with fertility meds?
I put mine in my carry on this summer. I didn't have any problems at all!
