yup- ziploc freezer bags here, too 
we buy meat at Sam's club... so we'll get like 5 pounds of ground beef, then split it up into 1 pound portions, and freeze each pound in a freezer bag
then- the night before we're gonna eat it, i'll try to remember to take it out and put it in the fridge... OR if i forget, i just put it in some luke warm water to thaw when i get home..

If it is a steak, I break up the package and freeze each one individually.

I use either the foodsaver of ziplock freezer bags, the foodsaver works much better but I am usually too lazy to go get it.

It depends how quickly we are going to eat something and/or how much we have to foodsaver. We buy steak and pork at Costco, so those we do in bulk and all get foodsavered.
DH doesn't like the chicken at Costco, so we buy a pack from Stop and Shop and the leftovers we'll just throw in a ziplock - as it's only going to be in there for a couple of days... not long enough to get really bad freezer burn.
