How do you know if you have PPD?
Or if its just a bad few days? Or if you are just under stress and it would be "normal" to react like this?

Re: How do you know if you have PPD?
I had after Eva, and I had bad thoughts about myself , I was constantly sad , I didn't feel like I was good enough for anyone , I was crying all the time , snapping at everyone all the time ... it took me 6 months to realize that I needed help !
Do you feel like this all day everyday?

Re: How do you know if you have PPD?
No, not all day everyday.
But I am stressed, a lot.
From my posts you may know some...just taking care of DD (who's 2 months old today), and my PhD program
plus, I had a c-section, and after the staples were taken out, part of the wound opened back up, so I've had visiting nurses come to our house for the past month taking care of the wound, but its still not healed (getting better, but they still are making appt's to come see me). The OB's office didn't even do anything for awhile to this wound, and just kind of let it go for almost a month and THEN had the visiting nurses start visiting me. I know this is not THE reason to be so stressed, but it just tops everything else off.
Sometimes I just start crying and although I've NEVER had bad thoughts about DD, I've felt bad about myself, thoughts of hurting myself (but not all the time). I have a small history of depression BEFORE being pregnant after my brother died.
I don't know.

Re: How do you know if you have PPD?
I waited 5 weeks and after that I couldnt take it anymore. It was so hard. I was crying all the time hysterically for no reason. I had bad anxiety and I was super fatigued. I wasnt myself. I didnt shower, put make up on, brush my hair. I just sat in the room. My dh is the one who pointed it out and he took me to the hospital. I monitored and sent home with a anti depressant zoloft. I started at 50mg and I felt a little better then they increased me to 100mg and Im back to my normal self again. I felt even better after I got my first period, Im not sure why ( hormones maybe? I wish I would have gotten help sooner. I thought it was baby blues but it was getting worse and it was going on for longer than the 10 days. My milk wasnt coming in as much because I had NO appetite so I switched to formula, that was hard for me to do, since I was so into breastfeeding. There are people you can talk to or call when you are feeling down. If you ever need to talk please feel free to fm me. I will give you my phone number. It really does help!!! Just know that it DOES get better!!!

Re: How do you know if you have PPD?
IMHO I don't think you have PPD...I think you just have a TON on your plate!
