How do you know the position....
of the baby without having a sonogram in WEEKS! My OB never said anything, but I am still feeling this baby ALL OVER.
When do they start to 'spin'?
ETA: I am 32 weeks

Re: How do you know the position....
if you are feeling the baby all over, he probably is spinning and rolling!
I always feel DS kick high, I havent felt anything low in months (maybe hiccups) so I know he is head down or at least his feet are high
if you have a growth sono, they will tell you how he is positioned. Also, about 34 weeks, your OB can tell by manually palpating your belly and feeling for the head, butt etc

My LO's feet are on my right side. I know this because I am constantly getting kicked there! He/She is rolling around like mad!

I always felt DD "kicking" high up and when I went for a Sono at 30 weeks, they said she was head up....I think she punches instead of kicks!
My belly has since dropped and I feel the kicks a lot lower now, but some are still high. I think she's just a little tumbler!

Re: How do you know the position....
i feel kicking/punching pretty much on my left side only so i figured that's where the hands and feet were most of the time....but i couldnt tell the difference between head down or head up.
confirmed at the growth sono (31w)that the baby was head down with its butt bumping my right side/ribs and the legs kicking my left side/ribs....and of course the head hitting me downwards (which i haaaate).

Re: How do you know the position....
I had to go to the hospital for some spotting @ 26 weeks and they told me the baby was head down. When the baby hiccups- I feel them way down low so I believe's it's still head down. Will find out at my growth sono on Sat.!

Re: How do you know the position....
i know my babies are head down, i can just feel it, it feels a little hard on the bottom of my belly and lower sides sometiems, if i press it feels hard, and of course every sono they say they head down my girls are punchers not kickers!

Re: How do you know the position....
I went last week and I was a day shy of 29 weeks and he was able to feel my belly and tell me where the head, back, butt, and arms/legs were. The head was down, so I asked if the baby was already in postion and he said no. He told me the baby changes positions every 20-30 minutes. I go for my growth sono on 3/11, so I'll get to see for myself. He also said that the harder areas are the back/spine. Crazy!!

Re: How do you know the position....
I didn't ever know the position... Now I know he is head down but only b/c I am 38w and the Dr. said it would be extremely unlikely at this point for him to flip. But if I didn't know that from a sono I would have no idea...
At my 32w sono he was breach and the tech showed me this bump and was like that's his head. Well 2 weeks later I thought I still felt that bump but it turned out those were now his feet, lol.
I know a lot of women say things like ohh I feel his little foot here or there- but not me. I feel all kinds is weird stuff but can't identify ANY of it, lol.
In fact, I swear he feels transverse right now but I KNOW he's not! I guess it's just arms or something stretching out.
One of my fears (irrational I am told though) is that I will go to deliver and the baby will be breach again but no one will know and I will start pushing and he'll get stuck. I made my OB promise if he can't distinctly see/feel the head that I would get a sono at the hospital... He was like um yeah okay thanks for the idea- haha I guess that's standard procedure anyway if they can't tell!

Can't sleep? Lol. I thought I was the only one pacing my house before 5 in the morning. I've already packed and unpacked my stupid hospital bag 3 times... I guess I'm gonna try again to sleep- DH is gonna wake up for work any minute and think I'm a lunatic up on LIF.
