How do you motivate yourself in the morning?
I'm trying to get back to exercising on a regular basis, but it's hard to find time during the week. I work long hours and don't get home until 9 pm. Our gym in our building is closed by then. I find it really hard to wake up in the morning in general, especially to exercise. I tend to just turn the alarm off and go back to sleep. I'm always tired from working and just want to sleep in until it's time to go to work (does waking up at 7ish really count as sleeping in?). Does anyone have any advice on how to get motivated to get up and exercise? TIA.

Re: How do you motivate yourself in the morning?
You have to tell yourself to just do it, just get out of bed. I get up at 5:00 to get to the gym. I get home at 9:30 every day too.
I ask myself when the alarm goes off, "do I really want to get on the train knowing that I could have worked out, but I was just too lazy to get out of bed?" You have to get into the habbit of asking yourself these questions the minute you start to get the lazy feeling. Tell yourself that if you get up at the first alarm, you will feel so good about yourself for the entire day. All it takes is that one thought for me.
another thing, is to put something next to your alarm clock, like an inspirational workout magazine, or your sportsbra. Sometimes I put the strap right on the snooze button so that when I hit snooze, I imediately remember why I need to get my *** out of bed.
Once you start, each day gets easier, trust me!

Re: How do you motivate yourself in the morning?
I used to work out in the evenings and after a few months I found it hard to always get in my work out time cuz things would come up. For a month now I started working out in the mornings at the gym and I love it. I have more energy through out the day, its good to know before I even get to work that I got that out of the way.
I never thought I could workout in the mornings either, but after I did it for the first week, it was just natural for me to get up and go. I dont even think about it. I guess if you want to do it badly enough you will go. I know people that get to the gym at 4am because thats the only time available for them.
Good luck!

I agree with this. when I used to exercise in the morning I felt so good all day knowing that it was out of the way - I felt like I accomplished something before I even got to work! And it was nice knowing I had an entire evening to myself without having to cram in a trip to the gym before it closed, or having to work dinner around it.
It's so hard to get myself into the swing of things lately, though. I know if I made myself do it for a week, I'd feel a lot better and it'd be a lot easier...Oh, well, where's my motivation???

I know exactly what you mean..I set my alarm for 45 minutes before i really need to be up plus i set my cellphone to wake me up and keep it across the room....but its still is so hard...i've learned to deal with hearing my cellphone go off and i still hit the snooze button and go back to sleep...I go through phases.. a few weeks ago i was up early every morning and went on my treadmill and the next week i didn't go on at all... i know the weather has a lot to do with it-like this week, its just so gloomy out and i'd rather just sleep- i know...excuses, excuses

Re: How do you motivate yourself in the morning?
I just think of my bathing suit sitting in my drawer... I also have a cruise that I'm going on in October and that's another addition to my motivation.
