How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
Do you use your own middle name or just whatever you like?
With my boys, we used my DH's middle/FIL first name and my dad's first name as a middle name.

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
I like middle names to have some meaning so if we have a girl I am using a combination of my grandma's name and the nickname that they call my aunt- annabelle
think of favorite aunts, grandmothers, moms, sisters, or if you are religious you can also pick a name that means something in your particular religion

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
I was talking to DH about this last night. I want to use middle names that have meaning to me.
If its a girl the middle name will be Danielle.. after my best friend who passed away 3 years ago.
If its a boy it will probably be Drew after my dad.
However, I do have a list of other names I love and want to use as well!

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
I'm torn between a name I love and a name with meaning. I have a feeling the name with a meaning is going to win out. I think its whatever you like in the end, there aren't any set rules.

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
We have a couple names in our family that are used a lot. We are using a modified version of one of these names.
I can't say what it is just yet. I have too many people on here who want to know and I'm not telling till she gets here.

Same here, we are going with DH's Grandmother's name.

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
If we have a girl, her middle name will be Rose. That's DH's mother's name and also an "R" name after my grandmother Ruth who passed away several years ago.
I like names with meaning, although even though I have a name with meaning (I'm named after two of my great grandfathers who died before I was born) I don't know much about them. I'll make sure our daughter someday knows about the people she is named after.

Me, too. If we have a her middle name will be Jane, after DH's grandmother, who passed away. It's also my Godmother's name.

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
we both want the first name to begin with an R after DH's mom who passed away.
For the middle name for a boy, it's a name we both would have used as a first name if we didn't already want a name with a specific letter.
For the middle name for a girl, a famous poet died this past year and she was very very inspirational to me. Anytime she wrote her signature in a reader's books, the first thing she writes is "Joy!" So Joy would be a middle name in honor of her :).

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
We already decided that the baby will be named after my mother who is deceased. So it's either going to be Joseph or Jo Ann. My kid will sound like a hick if it's a girl but it's our way of honoring my mother.

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
i dont think theres any rules to middle name picking. We chose to use my grandfather/father/brothers name as our DD middle name just spelt differntly. So instead of Ray it will be Rae.

My DH wanted to use his mom's middle name to honor her since she passed away a few years back. I had no problem with this- plus the name sounds pretty anyway

Re: How do you pick a middle name for a girl?
I like middle names to have special meanings, but they should sound nice too. We chose African middle names that sounded nice with our American first name. DH has an African middle name & we wanted our child to have a name representative of his culture. At the same time not have some foreign- non traditional name that he/ she would get teased for.
My parents gave me mine after some long-dead relative. I hate the name & never use it. I really didn't want my kids to feel that way.
