How do you stop hitting
MOVED TO PARENTING BOARD
I'm having trouble convincing my son to stop hitting myself and others. He's 15 months.
I don't want to hit him, when I yell at him he laughs like its a joke. Time out doesn't seem to be working for this habbit. It has worked for other behavior issues.
TIA, Nora

Re: How do you stop hitting
I really think and hope its a phase because DD is doing it to and she is 17 months. She doesn't really do it at daycare, but she does it to DH and I at home and like your DS she laughs when we try to discipline her. Hopefully it will be a short lived phase.

Re: How do you stop hitting
DD is almost 3 & hits us & kids at school. we use time outs every time & take away toys. we also talk to her about other ways to act when she's angry. nothing is stopping the behavior. her teacher says to keep up the discipline & it will pass.

Re: How do you stop hitting
My DS is 14 mths and he has been doing this for about 3 mths. His daycare teachers and I decided that we would stand firm on this. When he hits we give him a FIRM no an then take his hand and stroke wherever he hit and say "nice" over and over. Its gotten much better but every now and then he still reverts.
