how do you stop the insanity!!!!
Need some advice on people that we CAN NOT omit from our lives. These people are moochers and will take all that you have. They have taken from me, dh and my family. I cant go into full details but they just dont get it and keep coming back for more.

If they can't be omitted from your lives, then you have to stop enabling them. They get away with what they do because they are allowed to. It may be tough, but, the next time they ask for something, tell them no and keep telling them no. Eventually, they will get the hint.

i agree with this. its just like with kids- they keep pushing limits if you let them get away with things. thats what these people are doing. until you stop letting them "get away" with taking from you, they will keep doing it. just nicely explain to them that you care about them, but just can't do this anymore.

I agree and lets just say I have stopped. But what happens if my own family is still enabling it and making me feel bad for these people doing it to them?

Then that is their burden to bear. You can only worry about yourself. They are grown people and if they choose to continue on their current path, there is nothing you can do to change that. You can't worry about what you can't control. You should not feel guilty about a decision you made and shame on them for making you feel that way. Ask yourself this: are you better off when you are helping out the moochers or when you are not?
