How do you store your teaching materials?

I have so many books, binders, games, etc. I have taught so many grade levels and subjects, I have so much stuff! We have a small office that I want to use for storage. Does anyone have any tips/ideas? What type of storage do you use for your teaching supplies? I can't throw anything out in case I teach these grades/subjects again.

Re: How do you store your teaching materials?

Good question.

I have a ton of stuff too since I've been all over the place - leave replacements, summer school - and I never seem to teach the same thing twice.

I have one of those cubby organizers in my office closet. It's like three blocks stacked - open, no doors or anything - and that's where I keep random things like highlighters, index cards, etc. I use wire organizers and shoeboxes within the cubbies.

I also have a big filing cabinet with hanging file folders but I was thinking of switching to binders. Not sure if it's worth the effort though.

Can you scan and electronically file some papers for things you haven't taught in a while, then discard the hard copies?

Re: How do you store your teaching materials?

i'll let you know in a month or so when we move into our house Chat Icon

in all honesty though

all books i have at school..anything left over is on bookcases in my room right now

units go into binders, protected by plastic sleeves

extra binders are at home, but i still have 15-20 of them at home, and they're kept in large baskets from ikea

eventually we're going to set up an office, but i hate seeing the stuff, so i still want to have some type of "hidden" storage

For the most part, I keep everything at school. For the few things I have at home, I have them in binders and keep them on a bookshelf.
